The ‘Crop’ function allows the piece to be cut using the reference, the side, a perpendicular line or a custom line.
The interface for this function is similar to the following image:

Parameters
To use this working, first select one of the three available modes by pressing the corresponding button:
![]() | Parallel cut |
![]() | Orthogonal cut |
![]() | Cut through two points |
Parameters for ‘Parallel cut’ and ‘Orthogonal cut’
For the next two buttons below, this function can be enabled or disabled by clicking the checkbox to the right of the ‘Cut extension’ label.
Stretching Cuts | This function allows the operator to extend the cut applied to the selected side until it covers the entire length of the piece in the cutting direction. |
Offset | The operator can set the cut distance along the transverse axis, measured from the centre of the reference side. |
Parameters for ‘Cut through two points’
The next button can be used to define the coordinates of the two points that make up the dividing line.
Setting division line point parameters | When the function is enabled, four parameter fields become available in which the operator can specify the coordinates (X, Y) of the start and end points of the cutting line. |
![]() | Cut orientation |
![]() | Vertex snapping |
Executing the working
The working can be applied by pressing the button to the left of the appropriate cut in the polygon list.
A red icon with an 'X' indicates that the working cannot be applied to the desired cut.
Parallel cut
The following image shows a parallel cut made on the piece already shown on the chapter cover:

Orthogonal cut

Cut through two points
The following image shows a cut through two points made using the vertex snapping function on the piece already shown on the chapter cover:

Splitting pieces
When one or more pieces have been associated with the selected piece through Crop workings, a specific button for managing the associated pieces appears at the top of the “Edit Piece” panel.
![]() | Split pieces |
|---|
Before splitting, the associated pieces are managed as a single unit within the work area. In this state, a block consisting of multiple elements is created; these elements undergo the same operations and have not yet been separated.
For example, when one of the pieces generated through crop is added to the work area from the pieces list, all other associated elements are automatically inserted as well.
When the Split Pieces button is pressed, each piece generated through crop is dissociated from the original piece and treated as an independent element.
Subsequently, both the list of associated pieces previously visible above the preview in the Edit Piece panel and the button for splitting the pieces disappear from the interface.
